How to Get Rid of Geese

Geese or ducks when they swim peacefully are a pretty sight but when they flock the yard, cackling and destroying lawns, they can be a great nuisance. The cacophony can be quite intolerable. They can leave droppings and dirty your lawn. When they create so many nuisances there beauty is hardly appreciated. Follow these steps to get rid of geese from your garden.

1.    Do not leave food crumbs outside that may attract geese to your lawn. Do not leave your garbage bin uncovered and don’t give food to any geese that you find on your lawn otherwise they will come every day.

2.     You can use swans as decoys during the season of migration when geese fly over and try to land in your garden. Geese generally avoid swans, so using swans will stop geese from entering your yard.

3.     Put up a bird fence around any water body like a lake or pond where geese may attempt to land. Geese often use water to protect themselves so if there is no water body they won’t be interested in landing.

4.     You can even keep a pet like a dog or cat to drive geese away. Remember that the new pet needs to be taken care so choose this option only if you are ready to take care of another pet.

Make use of a chemical repellant that will drive geese away. The strong odor emanated by the repellant will drive geese away as the smell will not appeal to them and they may not find any attraction in landing in your yard. Also make sure that the repellant is harmless and does not bother you or your children (or pets).
