Geese or ducks when they swim peacefully are a pretty sight but when they flock the yard, cackling and destroying lawns, they can be a great nuisance. The cacophony can be quite intolerable. They can leave droppings and dirty your lawn. When they create so many nuisances there beauty is hardly appreciated. Follow these steps to get rid of geese from your garden.

1. Do not leave food crumbs outside that may attract geese to your lawn. Do not leave your garbage bin uncovered and don’t give food to any geese that you find on your lawn otherwise they will come every day.

2. You can use swans as decoys during the season of migration when geese fly over and try to land in your garden. Geese generally avoid swans, so using swans will stop geese from entering your yard.

3. Put up a bird fence around any water body like a lake or pond where geese may attempt to land. Geese often use water to protect themselves so if there is no water body they won’t be interested in landing.

4. You can even keep a pet like a dog or cat to drive geese away. Remember that the new pet needs to be taken care so choose this option only if you are ready to take care of another pet.

Make use of a chemical repellant that will drive geese away. The strong odor emanated by the repellant will drive geese away as the smell will not appeal to them and they may not find any attraction in landing in your yard. Also make sure that the repellant is harmless and does not bother you or your children (or pets).

Winter is a pleasant season. Cold weather, hot cups of coffee, holiday fun, skiing, colorful and warm clothing, cuddling up in bed and reading books—but winter also brings with it some problems like dry skin, cold and cough and of course static cling.

Follow these steps to get rid of static cling:

You can make use of special sprays that are designed to get rid of static cling. Spray these products on your clothes to prevent static cling before you wear your clothes. Sprays like static guard can be bought at your local department store. Keep them handy during winters so that you can completely keep static cling at bay is a great idea.

You can also use special sheets, called dryer sheets, when you put your clothes in the drier. These sheets are designed to stop static cling and make the fabric softer. These are available in your local department store and are mixed among other brands of dryer sheets. You can also use fabric softener to stop static cling.

Keep your skin moist by applying lotion to your body, especially after bathing or showers. This stops clothes from clinging and causing an unpleasant sensation while keeping your skin healthier.

During winters static cling tends to increase in the laundry. Separate the clothes when you put them in the dryer. Do not put the synthetics and the cotton clothing together. Use dryer sheets when you do your laundry. For clothes that become clingy too much rub the dryer sheet to the clothing before you put them in the dryer.

Take out the clothes from the dryer while they are slightly damp. Lastly keep your skin slightly moist by applying moisturizer and taking the other outlined tips above. That will take care of any static cling that might be generated.

Rats are a menace and the fact can’t be denied and often nothing short of calling the pied piper would rid you of rats. They are ugly and leave destruction wherever they travel. They can chew gas pipes, water pipes, make holes in walls creating a mess and even bite. They can spread disease and decay wherever they enter. Follow these steps to rid your house forever:

Firstly spot the problem areas. Look for places through which rats may enter, rat holes, loose boards, drain pipes that are not properly fitted. Clog open holes with steel wool that will stop rats from chewing them. Make sure all open holes are cemented and there is no outlet for rats to enter the house.

Make sure that you do not live food uncovered as that is one place rats are sure to be found. Look for rat droppings they are a sure sign that a rat family is around. Look for holes or spots that are open, make sure you block them. Unused food should be covered and thrown as wherever there are leftover food items household pests are likely to appear.
Do not clutter your house as that way they will have no place to hide.

Using rat poison can be a way of getting rid of the menace but there are several precautions you need to take. First make sure there are no children around and also they occasionally die in hard to reach place and create an offensive odor. So use rat poison carefully.

Use peanut butter in rat traps as it is more effective than cheese.
When removing dead rats use gloves as rats are laden with disease and handling them with hands can cause the spread of disease.

When your house is infested with mice and rats life can be a living hell. They nibble everything and you don’t know from which part of the house it will sneak next.

How to get rid of a mouse can be indeed a daunting task. During fall a mouse usually looks for a warm spot and your kitchen or attic seem to be the perfect spot for them to spend the winter ahead. Once the mice have set up a base in your house you can drive them away by following these steps:

1. Rat poison: These are effective and they take care of the mouse quietly and effective. One disadvantage though is that occasionally the mouse dies in difficult to reach places and it is hard to remove them and there is a horrible stench throughout the house. Look for rat poisons that claim that the mouse dies outdoors.

2. Rat traps: These have been used since the very beginning of pest control and are quite effective. The traps are of different kinds. There are traps that kill, like those in which there is a lethal dose of electricity that kills the mouse. There is the snap trap that snaps shut and traps the mouse. The glue trap, in this one the mouse accidentally steps on the glue and gets stuck on the adhesive pad.

3. There are also live traps that shut the moment the mouse enters and then it can be left in the outdoors—a bit more humane. You can use this one if you hate to kill the mice.

4. Call pest control professionals. You may have to suspend all activities while they are working in the house.

Household pests are the bane of our lives. We are always trying out new means to get rid of them. So, how to get rid of fleas without breaking the bank on an expensive pest removal service? Whether they are troubling your dog or younger children, it can be an unnerving task but you have to remove them as soon as possible.

Firstly: Have you noticed fleas in your household? They can enter the house through pets and then can infest carpets and rugs, bedding and other household items. Your garden and yard too can be infested follow these steps to get rid of the flea menace from your house:

1. The first step in getting rid of fleas is to vacuum clean the house, clean every nook and corner and especially focus on the carpets and beddings. The vibrations will loosen any fleas that have stuck themselves onto the carpet surface.

2. Spray insecticide. When you are selecting pesticides please check that they have insect growth regulator written on them. Do not neglect the yard and the garden. Spray the insecticide there as well as other places outdoors around your home too.

Fleas thrive in an environment that is hot and humid so please ensure that all your linen is well aired and also the pet kennel is clean and fresh (if you have one).

3. Get rid of fleas from your pets as they are the source of fleas and they suffer silently. Don’t do the cleaning of the house and pets on different days. Please clean the house and the pets the same day.

Wash and clean your pets thoroughly and speak with your vet for flea treatment for your pets.

For some people, the scariest thing they could possibly find in their house is a spider. However, most spiders seem worse than they really are. There are very few spiders that actually harm a person. In fact, most spiders are actually helpful in getting rid of other pests. Still, fear of spiders is not rational, it’s visceral, and clearly if you’re infested you will want to get rid of the spiders!

It can be very difficult to completely eliminate spiders. The best method is with a team of specialists who spray your entire house. There are no large sprays on the market you can buy to get rid of spiders totally effectively and spider traps are very inefficient.

You must be careful to get rid of the spiders entirely from your home. You must eliminate the groundwater and ensure the eggs are gone. A good approach is to run a sweeper, and then to dispose of the bag or the empty cartridge.

There are other effective ways to get rid of spiders which are as follows

- Keep eucalyptus around the house because spiders do not like the smell.
- Cats can sense large spiders, and chase them.
- Use a solution of ammonia on the window to drive spiders away.
- Place apples about your residence.

The above ideas are very effective to get rid of spiders from your home. And remember, although the majority of spiders are harmless, there are some spiders that are dangerous, so it’s better to call professional team to get rid of these spiders.

Traditionally the process of getting rid of mice, for decades, in fact, has entailed using cats and simple mousetraps to fight against the mice and rat populations.

However, there are many choices available nowadays.

Snap traps: The classic snap traps have many advantages. They are small, you can put something on them to attract the mice, such as cheese or peanut butter, then you wait for on something that you use to attract the mouse and the hope for the best.

There are drawbacks that, in fact, to snap traps. The mice that you catch are killed with a bar attached to a tightly coiled spring, and sometimes things don’t go as planned. When the mouse is killed, the blood can leak on to the floor. And when the mice eventually die, they will lose their urine and feces. All these factors can spread disease, and are unpleasant to deal with. Because mice are fast and smart, they can also sometimes grab the food and hide to avoid the trap.

Poisons: Poisons will certainly kill the mouse, but they also kill pets and small children. And if a mouse does not fall under the effects of the poison immediately, it can slink off to a place that is inaccessible to die a horrible death, and then decompose and emit a strong odor that can last weeks. Of course this is not an ideal solution.

Humane Mouse Trap: These traps are made of plastic or metal, and that its purpose is to catch the mouse without killing it. They are known to be very effective in doing so. And also these traps are very cheap and are easily found in markets.
